Esperanza

So we left for esperanza november 6 and we stayed there for the week. I got to see the ocean!
So we got up early and drove for a few hours and then we arrived at the ferries and then we looked outside and took some picutres, played crib, and slept a bit, then we had quite a few more hours left of driving, and then we got to these little boats in a town called Tahsis and we took them to Esperanza which is a healing centre where many First Nations go. We were right along the coast and there was many reserves near by. We got there when it was really dark already, it gets pretty dark around 5, but i think we arrived at about 7.30 and we were finally able to eat supper at about 8 or 8.30 and we had to stay in this very little house, all 37 ate there, it was quite a task, it kind of felt like big family gatherings, it had a nice homey feel to it so it was okay.
Esperanza was absolutely gorgeous! It rained everyday expect for one i think, but it was very nice. Big trees and waterfalls and it was just so isolated and away from everything.
I got to stay in the King's Palace cabin, which is nick named the adventurous cabin, just because it is not along the same strip as the other cabins so it was really dark at night to go to it, and sometimes a little scary, but it was nice and warm with our heater and dehumidifier.
So every day we would eat breakfast and then we would have a session. The people that worked there, there was a white couple and Nancy had grown up in a First Nations community all her life and Victoria and Ivan were the Indigenous couple and Victoria had grown up in an apartment in Vancouver and Ivan had grown up on a reserve. so it was really interesting hearing so many different point of views. It was especially interesting hearing and learning about First Nations people first hand. I didn't know a lot about it before hand and i would say that i still don't know a lot about it, but it is just unreal the things that they have had to go through and still many go through today. then we would had quiet time and then lunch. After lunch we would have some work projects like chopping wood (which is really rather fun) stacking wood, moving brush, moving wood, pulling nails, raking leaves, putting in windows and all that kind of stuff. I did a lot of moving wood that week.
But, esperanza was probably my favorite week thus far. It was very relaxing and i had learnt a lot and God had taught me a lot this week as well. We did a lot of reflecting time this week.
I am sorry to cut it off short, but i have to go to class now, sorry.
Miss you all!
